Obama, part deux

I kinda forgot to post a follow-up to the Obama rally. :/

Big pix ahead )

follow up to the last entry

See: last entry for more details.

It turns out that the Slovakian news article that used my picture was just a translation of this article which is about a woman wanting a kidney transplant.

Um. Let's take a look at the picture in question:

Cut for picture )

That's Liz after getting a tattoo.

Uh.

Not much to do about kidney transplants. I guess it just looked enough like one that they figured "well, good enough."

As some of you know, I have a Flickr account. I put up pictures on there from time to time, and license them so anyone can use them as long as they credit me.

I kind of assumed that no one would ever use my pictures, but I was apparently wrong.

Websites That Use My Pictures

Shared Dreams

A short story by a 60-year-old British man.

An excerpt from the site: Lennox’s eyes wandered straight past her shoulder to her exposed breasts. No matter how many times he’d seen, fondled, kissed, and sucked he could never tire of their exquisiteness.

JOJ.sk

From what I can determine, a Slovakian news site.

An excerpt from the site: Voľba, ktorú rieši štyridsaťročná Austrálčanka Vicki Pascualová, je len ťažko predstaviteľná, píšu austrálske noviny The Sunday Telegraph.

The only catch with that last one is that I don't understand any of that site, and I can't seem to be able to find a translator.

I'm feeling really stressed because I'm having a really difficult time figuring out how to balance all of my friends and family. It's tough when you want to want to spend time with more people than you feel you are able, especially when each of them holds a lot of importance.

I often get easily overwhelmed. A lot of times I get so flustered that I let dozens of e-mails, messages, Facebook wall posts, MySpace comments, voicemails, and even letters pile up because I feel that I can't deal with them. It's even worse that I feel that I have the capability to deal with this balancing act, but don't have the willpower to.

Over Winter Break especially I've been feeling that pressure. Ugh. There really isn't enough time.

Christmas!

Christmas was good this year.

My Christmas at home was kicked off by a gem from my mom's old record collection - a version of "Jingle Bells" performed by dogs barking in tune.

Picture! )

The majority of the day thus far has been spent watching the seventh season of The Gilmore Girls, which my sister got for Christmas. I guess this is what happens when I live with my sister and mom.

It snowed on Christmas for the first time I can ever remember. A white Christmas - how idealistic. Given, none of it really stuck, but hey - it still snowed.

Also, it's been a while since I have posted my collection of LAPTOP STICKERS

Another picture! )

Edit: Here is a Christmas song I practically grew up on (which would explain my choice of instrument). It's from an album called "Christmas in Mexico." I wouldn't look for audio quality in this recording because it's a rip of a CD rip of a cassette rip of a vinyl album that was released probably forty years ago. WE FUCKING LOVE THIS ALBUM

an update in photos

Cut for hopefully obvious reasons. )

Jul. 21st, 2007

guess who's awesome?

At work today (okay, last night), I found out that Albertson's would be selling copies of the Deathly Hallows at midnight. Since I usually stay up till 3 or so anyway, I decided to head on over at midnight with my sister to pick it up. There were literally three other people there (honestly, who goes book shopping at a grocery store?), and I was able to snag a 5% discount because I'm an employee. Nice.

Anyway, I decided to document the occasion, as I sped-read through the novel to the very end.

Pictures Ahoy )

I would definitely recommend it.

boom

Yesterday's storm system was...incredible. We really don't get much thunder and lightning in Oregon, but the thunderstorm yesterday not only lasted a while, but was pretty big. And of course, being the photography freak that I am, tried to capture some of it with my camera. I took over a hundred shots, but I only managed to get one good one:

One hundred and twenty-two.

flickr part deux

Problem: Summer boredom.
Solution: Take a shitload of pictures and upload them to Flickr.

I've really begun to experiment with lighting, shutter speed, ISO speed, etc., and hopefully the effects of that will start showing up soon. Also, any feedback - advice, criticism, just plain ol' comments - would be great appreciated.

flickr

Anyone here use Flickr (i.e. have an account)? I've been usin' it a lot more the last couple of days, and finding it pretty cool.

For reference, my pictures on Flickr are located here.
